We are currently seeking passionate professionals for the position of Environment Officerโa vital role within our Climate Change, Resilience and Environment Cluster (CCRE) under the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department (CCSD). This role is based at ADB Headquarters in Manila, Philippines, and reports directly to the Director of Environment.
Key Responsibilities
As an Environment Officer, you will support strategic, technical, and operational functions of ADBโs Environment group. Your contributions will span across policy development, technical assistance (TA) implementation, knowledge generation, and operational coordination. Your role will be pivotal in supporting environment-related projects and flagship initiatives across sectors.
1. Policy and Strategy Support
- Conduct research to support the integration of environmental concerns into policies and development strategies.
- Assist in preparing briefings, presentations, and progress reports on environmental priorities.
- Monitor key environmental trends and alignments with global and regional frameworks.
2. Technical Assistance and Program Coordination
- Support the development and administration of environment-related technical assistance projects.
- Contribute to consultant selection, output review, and coordination of TA activities.
- Assist with reporting, documentation, and issue resolution to ensure timely execution of programs.
3. Knowledge Sharing and Partnership Engagement
- Help organize and deliver seminars, training, and regional forums on environmental topics.
- Coordinate with ADB departments and external partners including UN bodies and NGOs to strengthen collaborative efforts.
- Support partnership planning, agreement tracking, and knowledge dissemination activities.
4. Operational Support and Data Management
- Provide inputs for work planning, resource assessments, and performance monitoring.
- Support internal reporting systems and participate in working groups such as Sovereign Operations (SovOps).
- Assist in drafting updates for strategic planning documents and ADB publications.
Qualifications and Requirements
We are looking for candidates who bring:
- A Bachelorโs degree (preferably with advanced training) in environmental science, engineering, economics, social science, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of professional experience in environmental or natural resource management, preferably within international or multilateral settings.
- Strong skills in research, writing, communication, and presentation.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
